A Space For Healing
The new Outpatient Oncology Center at the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center in Washington Township, NJ provides comprehensive preventative cancer care on an outpatient basis. The approximately 11,400 sq.ft. space includes 10 light-filled patient bays, an open shared infusion space for 5 patients, and an additional private infusion room. It also comprises 7 exam rooms, vitals and blood draw area, and a USP797 and USP800 certified dedicated Pharmacy within the suite.
Each infusion bay features a wall-mounted computer station and custom millwork with concealed trash, gloves, linen and sharps for a clean, effective design. The use of partial height walls, glazing, and soft finishes throughout achieve a natural, light feeling within the space. The process of design involved merging the visions and needs of end users and the project team to achieve a sophisticated design that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but efficient for staff in every aspect. Technology is presented through the cohesive lighting design, patient furniture that allows for heat and massage capability, and an electronic fireplace in the public waiting area.
